Limestone Networks launches new global Content Delivery Network service running on OnApp’s federated CDN platform

Combines its own CDN Points of Presence with high-performance capacity from the OnApp Federation to deliver more coverage at lower cost than legacy CDN vendors

LONDON – November 6th – OnApp has announced that Limestone Networks is the latest service provider to build its own Content Delivery Network (CDN) using OnApp’s federated CDN platform.

The new Limestone Networks CDN enables its customers to accelerate delivery of web content, video and applications from 12 strategic high performance locations in the U.S., South America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. These include CDN Points of Presence in Limestone Networks’ own infrastructure, and hand-picked locations from the OnApp Federation, a global pool of cloud and CDN capacity that spans 113 cities in 43 countries. Limestone Networks can expand its CDN coverage with any of these locations, on demand, and chose OnApp CDN for the greater reach and flexibility afforded by its federated deployment model.

Limestone Networks’ CDN is available now to existing customers and as a standalone service for users of other hosting platforms. Every location provides all-SSD storage with a minimum 2,000 IOPS, 20GB RAM and a 1.5Gbps uplink, with URL signing, password protection, hotlink protection, geoblocking, spider blocking and SSL support as standard. Limestone Networks will also make its CDN available to its large reseller community, as part of its cloud and dedicated hosting reseller plans.

“CDN makes a huge difference to load times, for everything from images, CSS and Javascripts to patches and installers - and helps our customers reduce bandwidth usage and server load, which improves cost and stability too,” said Kris Andersen, Limestone Networks’ Business Development Director. “We chose OnApp CDN because of the flexibility it gives us to design services with exactly the right coverage and performance our customers need. We can take full advantage of our own infrastructure and extend it with other premium locations from the OnApp Federation. It gives us more control and a much better cost profile than we’d get from reselling a legacy CDN.

“The Limestone CDN deployment shows just how easy it is to tap into the rich resources of the OnApp Federation and create unique services based on whatever attributes are important to your clients - location, speed, quality or price,“ said Kosten Metreweli, OnApp’s Chief Commercial Officer. “With the OnApp Federation you can make the best use of your infrastructure investments and get geographic and commercial flexibility you just can’t get from traditional CDNs - as well as better margins. It’s great to see Limestone building out from their OnApp Cloud and taking their service global, and we look forward to supporting them long into the future.”

The news follows the Q1 deployment of new Limestone Networks cloud services, running on OnApp, which include traditional cloud servers and pre-configured instances for Minecraft, Magento, Wordpress and other popular applications.
